The majority of teenagers today have i-pods, and thus itunes. Little do they know, itunes is actually an educational resource! Not everything on it, of course, but some of the podcasts are educational viewings that could be potentially used as a teaching resource. Rather than sending a child home to write out answers to questions from a sheet, teachers could send children home to watch an educational podcast (It is highly doubted that students will realise itunes is educational and thus be more engaged in it) and fill out questions about it. This will be achieving Prensky's wishes and attempting to 'engage' students rather than 'enrage'. For those unaware, Prensky believed that due to changing technologies teachers need to incorporate modern technologies and advancements in their everyday teaching in order to engage students and keep them interested. Teaching with the old style is considered to 'enrage' today's typical student as society has changing since the core teaching principles were developed.
TeacherTube is a great website where teachers can access lot's of ideas for engaging students, in one place.
